About this event

  • 1 day 23 hours

‘Leading your Church into Growth’ (LyCiG for short) is coming to Suffolk!

If you’ve never heard of LyCiG it’s a three-day course offering practical help to partner with God to grow your church(es).

The aims of the course are to:

  • Inspire you as leaders to help lead your church(es) into growth
  • Encourage you that in your own way, at your own pace, and with God’s help you can do it
  • Equip you with a straightforward and workable strategy
  • Give you teaching resources so you can share LyCiG with others in your church
  • Enable you to create (or finesse) and implement a Growing in God plan for growth.

LyCiG Main Speakers (2024)

The Revd Peter Leech: Interim Director for Mission and Ministry, Diocese of Ely. Previously, Peter was a rural Vicar in the Diocese of Norwich.

The Ven. Kate Peacock: Archdeacon of Stansted, Diocese of Chelmsford. Previously, Kate has been the Deputy Director of Mission and Ministry for the Diocese of St Albans and a rural Vicar in the Diocese of Ely.

Who is it for?

Parish/Benefice/Fresh Expressions teams including:

  • Priests and curates
  • Churchwardens
  • Children's and Youth Workers & Helpers
  • Readers, LLMs and Elders
  • Evangelists
  • PCC members
  • Cathedral staff and Ministry teams
  • Any other lay leaders you'd like to invite

You will need to select your team of participants and we recommend six per church/benefice. Please ask your Incumbent (or churchwarden if the benefice is in a vacancy) to book as a team. The larger your team the more effective LyCiG will be when you put it into practice. The names, email addresses and dietary requirements for all of your group will be needed on booking.

Please book early as we only have 150 spaces, which will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. It would help us greatly if you can book before Saturday 15 June!

Who are LyCiG?

The material created is the cumulative work of a team who all have experience of leading growing, healthy churches. The LyCig team includes those who have experience of ministering in urban and rural contexts, places of socail need and places of wealth, large single parishes, multi-parish benefices and fresh expressions of church. The content presented is not of a particular tradition, or theology and it aims to have something to help all local churches of all sizes to grow.

Cost

You will need to organise your own transport (ideally sharing lifts) but apart from that this conference is being paid for by the diocese so it is FREE to you. In return the organisers would appreciate that you come to each session and that you will run 'LyCiG Local' (like a mini-LyCiG) within 6 months of the conference in your local church. The materials for this will be provided free of charge and the idea is that you will cascade what you have learnt from the conference to your PCC or wider congregation.

Booking

LyCiG is a great opportunity to come together as a Parish or Benefice Team to share ideas, experiment with changes and learn from others who have experienced similar challenges. We ask that the team leader (usually the incumbent, or churchwarden if the benefice is in a vacancy) books on behalf of the team. So, to book, please speak to your incumbent or other lead clergy to secure your place on your parish/benefice team.

Leaders only: Please book the number of tickets required then add information about your team: names, email addresses and dietary/other special requirements.

If you have any queries, please don't hesitate to email the LyCiG team at lycig@cofesuffolk.org
